Gratitude Playlist

Well this one was interesting… – welcome to the (hopefully temporarily) tech challenged mama, with the memory of a goldfish, who is highly sensitive to the messages received by her children through pop culture - and the result is… well… there isn’t much of one.
We did have a great time brainstorming ideas with the big girls. We just didn’t think to write them down at the time. Then we got into a challenging space of what messages are we really looking for? Are they gratitude, or shall we expand that to ‘being you’, resilience, acceptance…? Do we avoid romantic ones? Even if the words are beautiful and can be interpreted as different things? Basically, this comes from me not being fond of lyrics that are based around superficiality, anger, victimisation or oversexualisation that seems to be aimed at kids and youth in general. And is it me, or does mainstream media almost solely focus on that type of music these days? My broken record that I keep playing on repeat for my girls is
‘what you put in your ears is what perseveres’,
‘it creates your reality – please expand your horizons!’
When it comes to the tech side of it, I did ask my brother how to do it with the hope he would suggest setting it up. As a note to myself, I must ask him, or whoever it is next time, directly! My gorgeous brother gave me great detailed instructions that took me much longer than I think it would take him. And of course the rabbit hole of trailing the tracks looking for songs that followed – After nearly 2 hrs I picked 5… and then sent out a request for requests, to friends and family and blissfully forgot about it for the rest of the week, as I descended into my premenstrual storm of emotions, regretted actions and words. But what I did do is play a lot of uplifting classical music.
Which brings me to Masaru Emoto. Have you ever heard of Masaru Emoto and his work on the true nature of water? His pursuit is said to be more of an original thinker than a scientific one, but the suggestions of his work around the power of sounds, images, words and even intention on the structure of water are astounding. They make you stop and wonder what the effect can be on us, considering over half of our body is made up of water. So without that actually being a conscious thought (as these things seem to come to me consciously as an afterthought – the impact of the music on the water in our bodies I mean), with every ‘shit sandwich’ of a day starting with me in tears and the children following suite, I put on Vivaldi’s 4 seasons, Beethoven, Mozart… anything we could find. And things lifted, even if just for a little bit. Shame I didn’t think of that for the afternoons as well… it really was a challenging week for us, and my darling babies were in need of some leading in a healing direction.
So what is the afterthought for the weeks gratitude action? Classical music and Buddhist mantras/prayers are going on the playlist – shake it up a bit, and maybe even form some beautiful momentary water structures in our bodies to remember, or give it a new baseline of reference for digesting information and creating emotions.
Think love, gratitude and hope beautiful people, and who knows we could create a new story for our reality, I’m all in trying this one. After all, I want it to be a good place to be. That 6 inches between your ears and how we interact with what is set before us is what truly creates the narrative to our world.
You can check some of the crystal formations out on www.masaru-emoto.net.
Oh, and if you have a good song suggestion for me please send it to me! Hit me up on IG or Facebook, as much as you please!
Blue skies and sunshine beautiful people, to past present and future readers, you were all one of these at some point in time!
